<h2>Duties and Responsibilities</h2>
<p>1. Evaluate licensing opportunities for their scientific merit as well as safety.<br />
2. Collaborate with Business Development and Scientific Assessment to conduct first-line assessments of licensing opportunities prior to conducting full due diligences.<br />
3. Review and provide technical evaluation of pharmacology data related for in-licensing opportunities.<br />
4. Oversee administrative and technical aspects of nonclinical studies conducted at contract laboratories.<br />
5. Assist in the design and conduct of nonclinical studies to support regulatory submissions worldwide as well as non-standard study designs for label expansion and marketing.<br />
6. Responsible for analysis and interpretation of nonclinical data and its potential relevance (safety/efficacy).<br />
7. Provide support in the preparation of pharmacology sections of regulatory submissions, including Investigators Brochure, IND and NDA.<br />
8. Participate in drug discovery programs with external collaborators. Assist in the design and conduct management of early stage nonclinical exploratory studies or pre-IND studies to support drug discovery and development.<br />
9. Assist in activities related to the scientific communication plan in support of commercialization messaging.<br />
10. Participate in problem solving in pharmacology issues.<br />
11. Provide support to pharmacology representatives on project teams.</p>
<p>ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:</p>
<p>1. Assist in the publication of pharmacology results for marketed drugs and drugs in development<br />
2. Conduct computerized literature searches for publications on assigned topics.<br />
3. Participate in the review and authoring of SOPs as needed.<br />
4. Contribute to Pharmacology process improvement initiatives as needed.<br />
5. Participate in the interview and selection process for new Pharmacology staff as needed.<br />
6. Provide input regarding study budgets<br />
7. Perform other duties as assigned by management.</p>

<h2>Requirements</h2>
<p>Education: Ph.D. or equivalent required.</p>
<p>Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant post-doctoral experience required. Pharmaceutical industry (drug discovery and development) experience preferred.</p>
<p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p>
<p>Knowledge of drug discovery and development<br />
Familiar with GLP and regulatory guidelines (FDA/ICH) regarding pharmaceutical development<br />
Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Project, and Adobe Acrobat<br />
Knowledge of budget planning systems and Documentum is a plus<br />
Knowledge of database management is preferred<br />
Must possess excellent skill/ability in the following:<br />

Work with senior Global Epidemiologists who are involved in evaluating disease and disease treatment in a population, supporting decision-making at each stage of drug discovery, development and life cycle management so that patients, providers and policy makers have the best possible information on drugs.</li>
<li><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Global Health Economics &amp; Outcomes Research</span><br />
Assist with specific health outcome studies. Become fully versed in the therapeutic area, up-to-date on all major studies, both ongoing and completed, competitive product information, clinical and health outcome data. Exchange peer to peer scientific and health outcomes information with other GHEOR colleagues through presentation of health outcome study methods and results.</li>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Internship Candidates: </span>High performer with a global perspective, interested in the interactions between science and policy, wants to work with dynamic people and contribute to a changing environment. Training in an advanced degree (Masters/PhD) in policy/administration, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, pharmacy, medicine, or related field. Good oral and written communication skills. <p><em><strong>Company Overview:</strong></em> Our client is a global life science competitive strategy consultancy providing decision support to the pharmaceutical and biotech industry throughout their drug development and commercialization process.   They are heavily focused in the oncology space and are looking to expand their team with individuals who have proven expertise/background in this therapy area.  Individuals who join this company, will primarily support oncology projects, but will have versatility and skill to work in a range of other exciting therapy areas, gaining exposure to the full drug lifecycle from preclinical to clinical development, regulatory and commercialization strategies.</p>

<h3>2011 Fundamentals of the Bioscience Industry Program </h3>
<p>The Center for Biotechnology is looking for alumni interested in volunteering to serve as Teaching Assistants (TAs) for the 2011 Fundamentals of the Bioscience Industry Program. </p>
<p>Serving as a program TA allows for enhanced interaction with Course Directors and guest industry participants. It will also provide additional experience with technology commercialization. </p>
<p>TAs will work directly with Course Directors to prepare material for the course including presentations for lectures and supplemental class readings. TAs will also serve as “project managers” for the semester commercialization, conducting research on all projects and working directly with student groups and course directors to guide the reports and final presentations. </p>

<p>Applied DNA Sciences seeks a Senior Research Scientist to work as part of its scientific team responsible for the development and advancement of the company’s DNA security technologies and systems. The position will involve performing a range of scientific and biotechnology analyses to support the company’s commercial programs and to provide a scientific interface with customers. As an important contributor to the business, our Senior Research Scientist will be involved in prototyping products for a wide range of commercial applications, as well as implementing protocols for sample preparation, amplification, DNA sequencing using molecular biology techniques.</p>
<p>Outstanding candidates must have proven experience in molecular techniques. These should include but are not limited to: DNA isolation, cloning, DNA transformation, plasmid isolation and purification, digestion, primer design, polymerase chain reaction, DNA gel electrophoresis, DNA purification from agarose gels and PCR products, and capillary electrophoresis and sequencing. Additional expertise in other disciplines is a plus.</p>
<p><strong>Position and Education Requirements</strong><br />
Masters or PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related fields is preferred, with solid experience in PCR amplification, CE analysis and DNA sequencing. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S., and able to travel to foreign countries as needed.</p>
<p>The best candidate must be capable of performing work with minimal supervision, have up-to-date knowledge and skills in DNA analysis, superior organizational ability and excellent communication skills. Candidates must perform work in a team environment to support current client projects to a successful conclusion. They should possess the ability to learn new methods and techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, transcribe data, comply with quality control and safety procedures, work in an organized manner, and follow instructions and company policies.</p>
<p>Excellent written and report writing, communication and presentation skills are essential. Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as part of a team is a must. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and other relevant scientific software is required.</p>

<p>Ideal candidates will have a BS in biological sciences with a minor in a quantitative field (finance minor also is a plus), excellent oral and written presentation skills, and demonstrated analytical thinking, business acumen, initiative, and an ability to successfully handle multiple responsibilities in prior work and academic situations. For the successful candidate, responsibilities will rapidly expand to include primary research, market and pipeline analyses and greater involvement on project teams.</p>
